By the purpose of the visit
Entry rules differ by nationality and document, and what the trip needs differs too. SAAFER shows here what it has today, in its real state.
Tourism
The sites, the coast and the desert; stays, experiences and transport are planned services.
Business
Meetings and visits, usually on an invitation from the host; corporate travel and delegations are on the SAAFER Business page.
Conferences and events
The organiser’s invitation first, then the visa and a stay near the venue; the delegation demo shows how that is run.
Investment
Investment questions go to the competent authorities; SAAFER is not an investment adviser or an official body.
Official visit
Arranged through the host’s official channels; SAAFER shows the logistics only.
Education
Universities and institutes; admission comes from the institution, the visa follows its purpose.
Medical
Hospitals and centres; the appointment comes from the medical provider, and SAAFER is not a healthcare provider.
Before you travel
Rules as their sources state them — the Libyan authority’s portal, and a foreign government’s advice to its own nationals — with the source and the date checked. Rules change; check the source before you travel.
Read your own government’s travel advice: the United States rates Libya Level 4 (31 August 2026, read from US embassy pages; check travel.state.gov); the United Kingdom advises against all travel except to named areas (21 July 2026) and warns that travel insurance may be invalidated when travelling against its advice. travel.state.govgov.uk
SAAFER is not a visa authority, an insurer or a government source; what is here is taken from the sources named, with their dates, and they have the last word.
A visa before travel, through the official e-Visa portal of the Passports, Nationality and Foreigners Affairs Authority; fees and processing as the portal states them.
The official portal; its content not yet verifiedPress reports say visa on arrival was suspended from 11 June 2026 and the online platforms are the exclusive channel; we have not verified this on a Libyan government page.
Reported by pressYour passport must be valid for the duration of your stay; a passport showing previous travel to Israel will not be accepted for travel to Libya.
From the UK government’s advice to its nationalsAll short-stay visitors must register with the police within a week of arrival.
From the UK government’s advice to its nationalsDeclare cash over 10,000 US dollars’ worth; it is illegal to take dinar out of Libya; cards and ATMs are unreliable for foreigners.
